Training School

Training Schools are high performing schools recognised by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as providing exceptional school-based professional development for all their teaching and non-teaching staff, along with those in other schools in the area. They work closely with providers of Initial Teacher Training and lead the way on training and development for their local authorities.

Boarding at Keswick School

Keswick School is one of 37 State Boarding Schools in England and Wales. The school is set in a stunning location on the edge of the attractive market town of Keswick at the heart of the Lake District National Park.

The Lairthwaite Boarding house was purpose built on the edge of the school site and has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It is a co-educational house designed to meet the needs of over 50 students aged 11-18.

The residential house staff seek to create a safe, caring and stimulating ethos in which boarders are able to develop and mature.
We cherish our successful record of co-educational boarding that began over one hundred years ago in 1898.

Leading Edge Partnership Programme

The Leading Edge Partnership Programme was established to encourage high performing schools to work in partnership to solve some of the most intractable problems in education.

Following the success of Keswick School as a Beacon School the school was awarded Leading Edge Status in April 2003. The Leading Edge Partnership Programme involves the school working with national partners throughout the country as well as our local partner secondary and primary schools in Cumbria.
