Design Technology

Overview of Design Technology Department

Design Technology is the study of the manufactured world. The department includes the specialisms of Resistant Materials (wood, metal & plastic), Graphic Products (packaging, logos, merchandise etc), Electronic Products, Textiles and Food, which are all taught by different specialist teachers in different specialist rooms or workshops. The emphasis is very much on giving pupils experience of how products are designed and made, and relating their studies to the world of work. We embrace new technologies and are always developing the projects we deliver with pupils to encompass industrial practices such as CAD/CAM.
