If you have any further questions regarding the enrichment programme do not hesitate to contact Mrs Jill Eccles at School.

We have a full range of activities for each Key Stage.

G and T activities

It is important that Keswick School’s G&T art students get a chance to experience new materials, and advance their skills, by having separate opportunities to partake in activities  that are not part of a normal art lesson .  Pupils produced their own felt landscape piece inspired by the lake district and created an intricate clay bowl based on leaves.  The pupils really enjoyed the experience and are keen to try other things including printing, 3d model making and painting.

Developments in G and T Spring 2011

Monitoring continues!

In years 7-13 we have the assessment recording system which will allow pupil achievement to be tracked more effectively.  The pupils on the A, G and T list will be tracked over the coming year to ensure that they are achieving their potential.  Year 10 , 11, 12 and 13 students will be also tracked, a process made easier by the introduction of modular exams. The tracking system has worked well over last year, but if there are any concerns that you might have then please let me know by email.

The Open University:

In 2011 21 students from Keswick School have officially become “undergraduates” of the Open University after successfully completing Higher Education courses and gaining 10 points towards a university degree. The students took courses in the Arts, Science and Technology ranging from “Molecules, medicines and drugs”, “Vandalism in cyberspace” and “Elements in forensic science” to “Start writing fiction”. The Director of the Cumbria Schools OU courses said that Keswick School’s results for 2010-2011 were “exceptional”.

Shine Week 2011:

This happens in the last week of term where we aim to unlock hidden talents within our pupils and celebrate the achievements of those students who do not get to Shine. Watch this space !

Volunteering:

Goals and targets for G and T pupils In the PLC we want to promote pupils being more involved in the wider life of the school and the wider community.  We also want pupils to have time to reflect on their progress whilst realizing that progress and development go beyond the academic. Using V-Volunteer (in year 12) and the Learning platform will mean that pupils can access their goals and targets at any time, teachers can review the pupil’s progress and parents can also have an overview.  The volunteering placements can also comment on the pupils progress.
