  • Double celebration for Keswick School

    Keswick School are celebrating winning two awards at CN Group’s annual Education and Learning Awards. The school was named ‘Secondary School of the Year’ (the first time any school has retained an award for a second consecutive year) and Headteacher, Simon Jackson, was named ‘Headteacher/Principal of the Year’. 
  • Steven Luckman bursary awards - 2014

    Three Year 12 students at Keswick School have been awarded a Steven Luckman bursary to support their studies and interests in science and technology. The promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and careers is regarded as a national priority.
  • Keswick School students undertake university level research

    Lauren Bamber, Emily Pratt, Matthew Harper and Olivia Leslie from Keswick School have been awarded a Gilbert Smithson Adair bursary to support their personal research in the fields of biology and environmental studies. These bursaries are awarded to promote scientific research beyond the bounds of traditional A-level subjects.

    Poppies – to be sold during registration 4th – 7th November.  Please bring donations towards Help for Heroes (suggested donation £1).

    Book Sale – running outside Queens Hall from 1pm every lunchtime 10th – 21st Nov in aid of Children in Need.  Please bring book donations to the library.  Ring money to buy fiction, non-fiction, stories and revision guides.

    Inter-house Children in Need Fundraising event – Friday 21st November in Queens Hall at lunchtime.  Please bring money for cakes and games.

    Extra MOVE rehearsals – today during morning registration and at 12.35pm.

    Year 11 Physics Challenge – today at lunch in F01 (you can eat your lunch in there).

    Kids’ Lit – Well done to all those who attended trials for the Kids’ Lit Quiz.  The top four people who will represent the school at the regional heat are: Pippa Atkinson, Katie Millican, Ruth Brown and Megan Stevens.  Can the team please attend a meeting in the library this morning during registration.

    Carnegie Club – No meeting this week as Mrs Robinson is out of school at lunchtime today.  The next meeting will be on Thurs 13th November.

    Writers & Illustrators – Next meeting is Thurs 20th November.  Please use the time until then to type up your story, making any initial alterations you wish to make and send it to Mrs Robinson via email by Tues 18th November.  At the next meeting, we will work through the stories as a group to continue redrafting.  New members wanted!  We are looking for one or two keen and motivated people who like to write and illustrate, can work as a team and meet deadlines to join the club and take over one of the stories.  If you would be interested, please see Mrs Robinson in the library this week.

    Library Website – There are lots of brand new fiction books available in the library at the moment.  You can find out what there is by visiting the library website.  You can also use the website to request new books – fiction or non-fiction.

    First readers – There are lots of new senior fiction and young adult books in the library waiting for first readers in year 10, 11, sixth form and staff.  If you could help by reading one of these books and giving verbal feedback to library staff, please call into the library.

    Volunteer hours – Don’t forget to log your volunteer hours using the link on the Internet Explorer school page/school portal.  It is important to keep your hours up-to-date.  If you have any questions about volunteering, please see Mrs Helm in the SSC.

    Homework club: Every lunch time in SSC (room next to pupil office) come along and help to catch up with homework.
