Keswick School is an 11-18, Voluntary Aided, co-educational school with an impressive record in education, locally and internationally. It retains a traditional atmosphere, including uniform, speech days and prefects and has carefully selected the most appropriate of the educational initiatives on offer in the last decade. We are a High Performing Specialist School with Leading Edge, Science Specialist and Training Status.
There has been the first case of swine flu at the School. Swine flu is the common name given to a new strain of influenza H5N1.
The most common symptoms are a temperature of 38ºC or more, sore throat, diarrhoea, headache, feeling generally unwell and a dry cough. In other words the symptoms are very similar to seasonal (regular) flu. Most people recover within a week without special treatment.
The temperature symptom is important: if your child does not have a temperature of 38ºC or more they will almost certainly not have swine flu.
What you should do:
- If you suspect your child has swine flu keep them home
- Contact help line and take advice (0800 151 3100 or text phone 0800 151 3200)
What the School will do if flu is present:
- Provide soap and tissues and encourage children to use
- Advice from School Nurse
- Provide accommodation if sickness occurs until parent/guardian can collect
