  • Double celebration for Keswick School

    Keswick School are celebrating winning two awards at CN Group’s annual Education and Learning Awards. The school was named ‘Secondary School of the Year’ (the first time any school has retained an award for a second consecutive year) and Headteacher, Simon Jackson, was named ‘Headteacher/Principal of the Year’. 
  • Steven Luckman bursary awards - 2014

    Three Year 12 students at Keswick School have been awarded a Steven Luckman bursary to support their studies and interests in science and technology. The promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and careers is regarded as a national priority.
  • Keswick School students undertake university level research

    Lauren Bamber, Emily Pratt, Matthew Harper and Olivia Leslie from Keswick School have been awarded a Gilbert Smithson Adair bursary to support their personal research in the fields of biology and environmental studies. These bursaries are awarded to promote scientific research beyond the bounds of traditional A-level subjects.

    Auditions for “Oliver” – tomorrow (24th October) 3.30pm at the Crosthwaite Centre for anyone interested in auditioning for Keswick Operatic’s production of Oliver in April, pre-auditions are being held this Friday.  This is a session to explain what is involved and to do some preliminary singing and to ask questions.  Full auditions will be in two weeks time at a venue and time to be announced.  All welcome from years 7 – 13.

    Girls’ Football Yrs 11, 12, 13 – Any girl interested in forming a girls’ football team see Kiah Forbes-J or Christie Curran from 12DP or sign up in sixth form common room.

    Youth Speaks competition – Pupils who were interested in the competition should come to a meeting tomorrow (24th Oct) in G04 at 12.55 with their one minute speeches prepared.  Bring your lunch if necessary.  If you are unable to attend please see Mrs Allport.

    Yr 10 Business Stalls – Milkshake and cookies in KS locker hall on Friday break and lunchtime!  Doughnuts also for sale outside of the Queens Hall – sugar ring doughnuts at 50p each and jam doughnuts at 60p each.  Also bring money for marshmallows and popcorn outside the Queens Hall.

    Writers & Illustrators – Meeting in the library at lunchtime today, to work with Dave Cryer on the first drafts of the stories.  Please be on time or even 5 minutes early if you can get permission to leave your period 3 lesson at 2.30pm, so that the meeting can begin promptly at 12.35pm.

    Overdue books – Anyone with overdue library books, please return them by tomorrow.

    Halloween Rock – Urgent!  3 days left for tickets in advance – a concert in the Kirkgate Centre, Cockermouth including special guests Colt 45!  Tickets £1.50 in advance, £2 at the door (u16s) or £4 in advance and £5 at the door (over 16s).  Takes place 29th October (Wednesday) 7-10pm!  Come along, you won’t regret it!

    Mock Trial yr 8 & 9 meeting – tomorrow (Fri) at 1pm in the SSC.

    Second hand book sale – Outside the Queen’s Hall 3rd – 14th November 2014.  Please bring in books to donate this week and take to donation box in the library.  Any books welcome, especially 2nd hand revision guides.

    Stagecoach transport to school, Penrith & Grasmere areas – If you currently travel to and from school on the X4 or X5 from Penrith or live in the Grasmere area and use the Stagecoach 555 service, could you please add our name to the list provided at Pupil Reception.

    Young Musician of the Year – Application forms for Keswick School Young Musician of the Year are now available from the music department at Crosthwaite.  Cash prizes!

    Library Website – There are lots of brand new fiction books available in the library at the moment.  You can find out what there is by visiting the library website.  You can also use the website to request new books – fiction or non-fiction.

    First readers – There are lots of new senior fiction and young adult books in the library waiting for first readers in year 10, 11, sixth form and staff.  If you could help by reading one of these books and giving verbal feedback to library staff, please call into the library.

    Year 11 – GCSE Business Revision books now in stock in the finance office £3.40 each.

    Homework club: Every lunch time in SSC (room next to pupil office) come along and help to catch up with homework.
