Keswick School Jazz Band perform at local Jazz Festival

Keswick School Jazz Band performed at the Keswick Jazz Festival with new Orchestral Stands and Covers in memory of Carole Rael.

Last Thursday and Friday, Keswick School’s Jazz Band performed at Keswick Jazz Festival’s Southey Street Methodist Church venue.  The band, conducted by Colin Brind, has performed at the festival for a number of years and their programme included some old favourites like Louis Louie, Watermelon Man, Stand by Me as well as some new numbers including Caravan from the film Whiplash.  John Tirrell sang a couple of solo numbers in the middle of the concert – Summertime and Fly me to the Moon accompanied by himself on guitar, Amy Lord on Bass Guitar and Ross Singleton on Drums.

The Jazz Band were using the new professional orchestral music stands and stand banners that were bought in memory of Carole Rael, former Music teacher at Keswick School who died in December and John Rael, Carole’s husband was also there to see them being used for the first time.
