Keswick School Year 9 Careers Day

Last week, each Year 9 pupil participated in a second day of careers sessions. The sessions were designed to inform, advise and guide pupils in the build-up to them choosing their GCSE options.

Year 9 pupils undertook lessons in employability skills and then explored their future ambitions. Each pupil researched and created an individual career pathway, which allowed them to explore decision-making processes. Pupils particularly enjoyed a session run by the University of Cumbria which explained university as a possible option in the future. Additionally pupils were able to attend a “Meet the Employers” session which saw local employers from different sectors introducing and explaining the world of work to pupils. The overwhelming response from both students and employers showed how valuable they found the real-life dialogues and the exchange of questions and ideas.

Following from the overwhelming success of the Year 9 career days, Keswick School looks forward to running similar sessions with Year 11 students in September.

Keswick School is extremely grateful to the University of Cumbria and to all the local employers who took time to support pupils with their careers education.
