Keswick School recognises outstanding student achievement

Keswick School students have once again celebrated some terrific exam results over the summer. Students at both A-level and GCSE have made outstanding progress comparable with the highest performing schools in England and Wales.

At A-level 79% of all grades awarded were at A*-C with the vast majority of students moving on to their first choice university courses. At GCSE 80% of students achieved five 9-4 grades (including a 4+ in English and Maths). 88% and 73% of students achieved a 4+ and 5+ in English respectively and 83% and 61% achieved the same standards in Maths. These results show yet again that in the right environment students can thrive and achieve their potential.
We will be celebrating much of this student success and the effort that so often reaps just rewards at our annual prize giving evening this Friday. An incredible 181 prizes, trophies, cups, plates and shields will be awarded. Our guest speaker this year is Howard Allen, former Head master from 1976-1995. Howard has just completed a book on the history of Keswick School from 1898-1998. This highlights the schools history as a pioneer in the early days. That tradition remains as strong as ever today.
One example of how we do things ‘our way’ includes the annual iPerform festival of dance, music and drama. The latest iPerform video is now available to view on the school’s website and on our YouTube channel: and Keswick School Website It is an incredible logistical challenge and this year includes Bassenthwaite Primary School who we welcomed into our Multi-Academy Trust in January.
With so much going on we expected to be popular again for new Year 7 Admissions in 2019/20. At Keswick School we don’t have an Open Evening as we believe a more personal approach when making such an important decision. Our Admission Open Mornings to see us during a normal school day are arranged by appointment. To register an expression of interest please complete the form under the admissions page on the school website.

“The excellent summer exam results are richly deserved. It will be great to celebrate these amongst many other notable achievements at prize giving on Friday. I am very proud that we offer something to everyone in the true spirit of a comprehensive education. So to see students make excellent progress across the board is very special. It reflects a dedicated staff and highly motivated students who want to do well and support each other."
