ICT
Overview
ICT is an exciting tool, at the heart of 21st century society and one of today's keys to learning. At Keswick School we aim to teach all students to make the most of ICT to support their learning.
Key Stage 3
In year 7, pupils learn essential skills within an exciting and innovative pattern of lessons. In years 8 & 9, ICT is taught across the curriculum within individual subjects and, with the introduction of the new KS3 National Curriculum, is currently under review.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 we follow the BTec Firsts ICT Practitioners course from Edexel, equivalent to two GCSE's. Units include: Using ICT to Present Information, Spreadsheet Software, Database Software, and ICT Supporting Organisations. The course is 100% Coursework.
Key Stage 5
At Key Stage 5, Year 12 students can take AS Applied ICT from OCR. This consists of two coursework units and one examined unit. The units are: Using ICT to communicate, How organisations use ICT, ICT solutions for individuals and society.
