Welcome to Lairthwaite Boarding House at Keswick School and an amazing opportunity to meet new friends, try new things and experience the wonders of the Lake District right from your own front door.
Would you like to try a boarding experience?
As a member of Lairthwaite Boarding House, you will be instantly welcomed into a family atmosphere where you can find a Home Away from Home in the UK and experience what it is like to be a boarder. You will not only attend lessons, giving you the chance to see what life is like in a vibrant and highly successful British school, but you will also participate in all our weekend activities and Big Boarding Week

What kind of weekend activities are there?
Our weekend activities programme includes both cultural and outdoor opportunities. Whether it is mini golf at the local park, climbing one of the Wainwrights, paddle boarding on Derwentwater or visiting Wordsworth House or Carlisle Cathedral, there is always something exciting and fun on offer. We promote exercise and well being as a core focus of everything we do. We live by our mantra, “Get Outdoors”
Where is Keswick School?
Keswick School is located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, located in the North West of England. It is nestled at the foot of the mighty Skiddaw mountain on the banks of Derwentwater, the third largest of the Lake District lakes.
How do I apply?
The Keswick School Adventure is for students in Years 7-9 and takes place during the last week of June and first two weeks in July (23rd June – 18th July 2025).

Spaces are limited and the cost of the programme is £1375, but there is a £375 bursary available upon inquiry. We are happy to assist with transport if you require transfer from Manchester Airport or Penrith Train Station (this would need to be pre-arranged).
