Student's Quality Projects - Keswick Rotary Club

Year 11 and Year 13 students at Keswick School produced a very high standard of work for their GCSE and A-level projects this year and were recognised and recently awarded prizes which were supported once again by Keswick Rotary Club.

The students practical work was judged, and the best projects were selected from the two Material and one Textiles classes at GCSE and the A-level cohort.

First in the GCSE Materials category was Sophia Parkinson for her high-quality storage unit, in second place was Maisy Winskill for her folding coffee table light, third place went to Lyndsey Sayer-Ulyate for her entirely recycled drinks cabinet. Maia Lewis won the GCSE Textiles prize with a dress made from recycled denim.

This year the A-level projects that stood out for the judges were garden/plant-based products, although it still proved to be a competitive field. However, Finley Teasdale took top spot with his garden waste composter, second place went to Joe Nielsen for his garage for his robot lawn mower and third prize was awarded to Harry Combes for his self-watering pot plant device.

Helen Hargreaves, Head of Department said “A huge thank you to the Keswick Rotary Club for sponsoring and supporting our Design Technology students once again! From coaching our A-level students in a thrilling 'Dragon's Den' event last autumn to helping us honour their final creations, the Rotary Club's involvement makes a massive difference. It is incredibly rewarding to see our students' hard work and innovation recognised by our local community.”
