Keswick School follow two science routes at GCSE. The route chosen will be determined by pupil ability and aspiration which is assessed at the end of Year 9, through key stage 3 exams and teacher recommendations.
Separate science students will be taught in sets according to their ability and all receive 14 science lessons per fortnight which are split between the three science subjects. Students are taught by subject specialists and have a separate teacher for biology, chemistry and physics. All examinations are at the end of Year 11 leading to three GCSE qualifications.
Combined science: trilogy students receive 9 science lessons per fortnight which are split between three science subjects. Students are still taught by subject specialists and have a separate teacher for biology, chemistry and physics.
