Keswick School Band Night – An Inspirational Success
On Thursday 7th July, Keswick School's Queens Hall saw the birth of some new Keswick pop musicians. Having been held back from the stage for several years due to the pandemic they seized their opportunity to showcase their skills with style.
Thirteen groups of young performers entertained the audience ranging from solo acts to 5-piece bands. For many of the young musicians, this was the first time they have had the opportunity to play their instrument in front of a crowd. Songs by acts such as Green Day, Taylor Swift, Abba, Ed Sheeran and even 5ive were met by rapturous applause, dancing and plenty of singing along.
Annemarie Quinn, an ex-pupil of the school, recently hosted some vocal workshops. The result was a newly formed choir who performed three songs on the evening, an amazing effort after just 2 rehearsals. The evening raised money for the charity, Music Against Malaria, of which Annemarie is a co-director.
