Top of the class - Keswick School achieves top marks in school performance tables
Keswick School is delighted to be ranked as the top secondary school in Cumbria in the school performance tables published yesterday (16th October). This success is recognised in the following areas:
A-level progress score 0.18 (above average)
GCSE Attainment 8 score 52.1
EBacc average point score 5.05
The A-level progress score is the best for a state school in Cumbria (including selective schools). It is even more impressive considering the size of our Sixth Form (currently 270 students) which is the third largest in Cumbria.
The GCSE Attainment 8 score is an indication of the grades achieved by students taking 8 qualifying subjects that include English, Maths and Science. The EBacc average point score is an average based on the qualifications needed to achieve an EBacc. The scores of 52.1 and 5.05 are the highest in Cumberland and bettered only by two selective schools in Westmorland and Furness.
Across the school there were many successes in subjects such as German and French with students achieving 15 and 12 grade 9s respectively and 38 and 36 students achieving grade 7+ in each language.

We believe this success is down to our school culture. This is developed around caring for others, support, encouragement and friendly competition. It creates character and confidence and relies on a partnership between students, parents and staff. It is also reflected in our vision that happy students who enjoy learning will achieve their potential.
We continue to develop subject mastery across the curriculum and create exceptional opportunities for students to flourish through participation (and national success) in a range of competitions, sport, music and performance. We will always put the interests of our students first and give young people unparalleled support with a team of highly committed specialist teachers and support staff.
As a fully inclusive school our ambition is to achieve world class standards and create the leaders of the future, and we welcome anyone who shares the same philosophy to join us.
